What are you working on with your clients?
One of our Coordinator states, "Working with my client every week on things most take for granted that they are capable of doing brings me tremendous satisfaction. Meal prepping has moved my client away from eating nothing but junk food. Tackling specific areas of his home, so it’s not just clean on the surface, but is completely clean gives him a sense of pride of ownership. I am thankful that he listens to my gentle nudge even when he rather sit and watch the price is right. Here one of her clients cleaned out his entire refrigerator and reorganized it".

OUR CLIENTS ARE LEARNING TO SAVING FOR A RAINY DAY!
Most clients have money management in their goals. For client Angel, according to his instructor, and Coordinator, he has been working since completing high school. His parents have been controlling his money. He makes between $1,100-$1,300 a month. They only have $461 from his earnings because he spends frivolously and then has to ask them for extra. The instructor had him purchase a budgeting journal and they allocated money for savings, rent(which he’s never offered them), expenses and walk around money. If he sticks with our plan he will have $5,000 saved in December. He will have paid for his Verizon phone bill. His parents will have received monthly rent. He picked his jar to put extra money he doesn’t use so that after 6 months he can start to treat his family to Sunday brunch! He’s writing things in his journal. HIs instructor set up reminders for every payday, bill, and monthly shopping so there’s a set day. His instructor and him have been doing this two weeks and he’s so proud that he’s being responsible. He wants to prove that he can be monetarily responsible. What are you working on with your client? send a photo and brief description to [email protected] and you may see your clients photo here.

Independence is Everything!
This is Luciano, he's the son of our former Client Tiffany. Tiffany came to LeBlanc Consulting when she was just 17 years old and still in high school. When she first arrived in our program she was, hurt, angry and felt that no one understood her. According to Tiffany, her previous program "made me sit and color like I was a child and didn't have respect for individuality or the fact that I was almost grown and wanted to get my life together. Instead they drove me around with all of the other clients in a group and refused to acknowledge the things that I needed to thrive as an individual".
Here at LeBlanc Consulting, Tiffany was assigned to Mr. Williams (40 hours ILS a month) and Mrs. LeBlanc (20 hours parenting a month). She kept every appointment they made with her and would even drop by the office to hang out with staff. It was clear that she wanted all the wisdom and knowledge they had to teach her. Tiffany, knew that she didn't want to depend on others the rest of her life. According to Mr. Eugene Williams, "she was a good listener did her best to follow through with our recommendations. Tiffany has a great follow through with a service provider she trust. She is an excellent mom to her son" Tiffany learned to make and keep doctor appointments for him, she learned how to enroll him in school and follow through with getting the documents filled out for him. She learned to care for his every need and advocate for him. She learned to never give up on her children and to do her best to assure that their well being is put first. Both Tiffany and her son are now thriving and are completely independent without any outside agency in the home to assist her.

"Ten years ago today my whole life changed. I was a single mom on disability and had no help or clue of what to do or know anything about being a mom. Once I went to a program that was full of life goals and understanding my disability I was happy. I met Ms Selena Leblanc she was so nice and welcoming, she understand me a lot, I seen that my life will be better and change. She was the teacher that I learned a lot from and the women I wanna be because she more then a person. She kind, understanding, beautiful personality, soul, smart and big hearted. She help me with so much in my life and if I could pay her back in everything she help me in I will. I will always recommend her in everything because she the type of women that never gives up and if you need someone she will be there to help you, talk about anything and help you if you don’t understand. Know she will explain things to you and she a hard worker. When I mean harder worker, she never stops fighting and she don’t sleep on nothing. She always ready to make everything happen and she always has her head on right. I love how she always help others with things and I love how she just want the best for everybody. When you need a favor she always finds a way to make it happen. No matter how far I live, i will always keep in contact with her because she like family. You don’t find good people like her these days. I hope you understand my letter and see what I see in her because she what then words needs.

These outings are important for their social emotional development it allows them to get out into the community and meet some of their peers. Even if you cant come please please tell your clients, many of them will find a way there. Today we learned about compassion, diligence, love, honor and service animals.

Remembering our Sweet, Funny, Loving and Faithful Client SHAE.
SHAE fought a long battle with Cancer and not once did she complain about her condition, or situation while fighting. She woke up daily ready to face the world with a new positive attitude. She was always smiling and laughing. She was a woman of faith and participated in our annual Service Days as we fed the Seniors in convalescent homes. Shae often stated, "Other people don't take care of me like ya'll do. I been with the Regional Center all my life and I can tell when people love me, you love me here. I love y'all. " At her memorial, the family took time to thank us for our "Unconditional Services".
As SHAE battled with Cancer, we were inspired to write a SLS program for someone with her needs. Unfortunately, she died before we could complete the program. Last week we opened a NEW Supportive Living Skills Program in the North Bay and as a result, thank you my sweet Shae, we love you too!
