The Instructor Position

 Position/Title: Independent Living, Supportive Living  and Parenting Skills Instructor
Supervisor: Program Coordinator
Department: Independant Living & Parenting Skills Services
Jobs Supervised: None
Hours of Work: Full time hours yet days to be assigned based on consumer needs.
Salary Range: $21,120 - $40,000 per year (DOE)

About the Position:
The Educational Consultant is responsible for providing a Learner-Centered Educational Experiences where students also known as the "Client or Learner" have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth. The position is responsible for implementing the Educational program in accordance with Le Consulting, State policies and laws that results in learning, achieving academic success and parental competence. The Educational Consultant is required to work with the learner collaboratively to plan, and implement Consultation activities to engage and facilitate the Learners success in a virtual, and physical environment in the learners, home or within the community. The Consultant tracks and analyzes the Learners performance data and develops learning plans, using resources to meet the needs of the Learner with varying backgrounds, learning styles and special needs. The Educational Consultant provides Learner advocacy, counseling, support, and delivers excellent learner service to assure compliance with state policies and laws.The Education Consultant provides written documentation of the Learners experiences, writes quarterly reports, and conducts research. The Education Consultant promotes the programs by staying in good standing with community partners, and collaborate with community partners. The Education Consultant must assist with marketing, contributes to the quarterly news letter, and weekly blog. ​

PLEASE NOTE: We Believe that the best way for anyone to fully understand our passion for client services is for them to work with clients. Therefore majority of our staff members serve multiple roles which may include office duties and one to one client services with multiple clients.

Qualifications: High School Diploma, AA degree or equivalent, BA/BS preferred
  • Minimum of two years’ experience working with developmentally disabled adults. Prefer ILS experience, or special education teaching experience.
  • An appropriate combination of experience and education may be substituted for some part of the qualifications.
  • Some evidence of competency in training areas we teach.
  • Reliable and safe transportation and auto insurance.
  • Red Cross CPR and First Aid training, or willingness to be trained.
  • TB clearance.
  • Department of Justice fingerprint clearance.
  • Prefer behavioral training, knowledge of Regional Center and Systems serving developmentally disabled. Referrals from previous employment necessary.
  • Willingness to update any and all personnel certifications, clearances, and reports as required by agency policy or licensing/RCEB requirements.

Transportation:
a. Valid California driver’s license.
b. Clean driving record (DMV printout required)
c. Current vehicle registration and use of a vehicle in good running condition during shift hours.
d. Valid automobile insurance for that vehicle and all passengers.

Other
a. Tuberculosis clearance Screen
b. Current CPR and First Aid certification
c. Pass a criminal background check though fingerprint clearance.
d. Pass pre-Employment Drug Screen and random drug test as required.
e. The willingness and ability to perform all the essential functions of the job.
f. The ability to work collaboratively with consumers and co-workers.
g. An employment record of punctuality, good work attendance and reliability.
h. You must provide an I-9, Social Security Card or proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.
i. Employment will be contingent upon passing drug and/or alcohol screen.

Basic computer skills: Microsoft Outlook for email communication, Microsoft word, Excell and Internet

Administrative abilities, write case notes, fill out required forms, schedule appointments, type correspondence and manage a load of 5 or more clients

Self Discipline: This person must be a professional able to work independently posing time management efficiency, integrity, ambition, loyalty and motivation. Communicate well with clients and management. ​

Interview Process and Training
The entire hiring process at LeBlanc Consulting takes about one month, therefore, please plan accordingly. Candidates considered for an Consultation position with Le Blanc Consulting must successfully complete a multi-level interview process, which includes a thorough review of background, references, credentials, application and resume information, recent evaluations and phone/in person interviews. The review process may also include a full-day interview and information session located at Le Blanc Consulting corporate office. If selected for a position, new hires must attend orientation and training sessions at the Le Blanc Consulting corporate office, as well as required virtual training sessions and hands-on training provided thereafter.

FAQ'S

When is the next test date?
Test dates are tentative, but the Consultant Exam is announced twice per year. 

I took/passed the Consultants examination with another agency, can Le Blanc Consulting use those scores? 
No, applicants must take the examination by LeBlanc Consulting administers. 

I have a degree or multiple degrees do I still have to take the Consultant Test? 
Yes, as of 1/1/2016 all consultants must take and pass the Consultants Examination with an 80% or higher. 

Why are Test and Examinations necessary for Le Blanc Consulting? 
Due to the population that Le Blanc Consultants provide services for, examinations are a way for the company to determine if a person is a good match for our Company and the Client Learners. This job may also require some travel and individuals that can communicate with diverse populations as a result testing is required.

I am scheduled to take the Consultant test, can you tell me how to prepare for the test or do you have a study guide available? 
Although there is not currently a study guide available, however, one will be made in the future.

I need testing accommodations, can Le Blanc Consulting provide such accommodations? 
Yes, Le Blanc Consulting provides testing accommodations based on the American with Disabilities Act. Please provide current documentation of your circumstances and we will be happy to accommodate you. 

What is the work schedule? 
Consultants work 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, however, Consultants schedule may vary depending on what the consultant and the learner has worked out. In home Supportive Services Consultant and Supportive Living Services Consultants work shifts that are primarily 7am to 3pm, 3pm to 11pm and 11pm to 7am. As an In Home Supportive Services Consultant and Supportive Services Living Consultant you may be asked to work any of these shifts. 

Where will I be working? 
All Consultants that are primarily hired for staffing within clients homes or within the clients community. 

Can I have a criminal record and get hired? 
Individuals will not be hired for any position if they have been convicted of a felony, as a juvenile or adult, in any state of federal jurisdiction that would have been a felony if committed in this state. 

I took the test when am I getting my scores? 
Scores will be sent approximately 2 months after testing. An outside agency scores the test therefore it takes longer to get the results back. 

I received my score and ranked on the list and I am waiting for an interview, when I am I going to be called? 
Candidates are ranked by their score in either Band A or Band B. Interviewing, hiring and selection are at the discretion of Le Blanc Consulting based on staffing needs. 

Can I be disqualified after taking an exam? 
An applicant may be disqualified if they have taken the particular form of the test within the six (6) months immediately preceding the giving of the test which applied.
